Course Description

This practitioner course is aimed at providing you skills to work with families that have children with developmental, behavioural, and/or emotional challenges.  The course begins with neurological development to provide a framework of understanding challenging behaviour and emotion dysregulation.  Following is a guide to build a healthy lifestyle that includes mindful and meditation practices, movement, and peaceful sleep.  The overall goal is to assist families in learning ways to support any child’s intellectual and emotional development.

CPD002 – Practitioner Course:

Understanding Autism in Children and Supporting Their Parents

Course Description

This practitioner course aims to educate you about children with autism.  The course describes who is included in the Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis, common traits of autism, and statistics and facts about autism.  There is a spotlight on Sensory Processing Disorder and Asperger syndrome.  The course then looks at the limitations and benefits of autism labels on children. Importantly, the course discusses your role in how to support these families that autism affects.

CPD003 – Practitioner Course:

Melatonin Use in Children with Autism and ADHD: Reasons, Concerns, and Mindful Lifestyle Alternatives

Course Description

This practitioner course introduces sleep challenges in children with autism and/or ADHD. The discussion provides the reason for melatonin use in these children and also concerns for this medication usage. The course then expands to investigate the stress response system and how this is impacting children’s sleep. This discussion is then linked to how children with autism and/or ADHD are increasingly being included in research investigating the benefits of yoga and mindfulness programs for sleep and overall well-being.
